Ryan T • Piano Instructor
Ryan T. is a composer and pianist. He specializes in composition for digital media including short films, podcasts, theater, and more.
Ryan began taking piano lessons with his grandmother at the age of five. Growing up, he would perform for his family and friends, and participate in local talent shows. As he progressed through high school, he arranged songs for his classmates’ recitals, participated in the Illinois High School Theater All State Production, and won the 2017 school composition contest.
During his time at Columbia College Chicago, Ryan studied music composition under the guidance of Ilya Levinson and Sebastian Huydts. His senior projects included a violin concerto in two moments for a chamber orchestra, and an arrangement of "Golliwog's Cake-Walk" performed by the Chicago Composer's Orchestra. Alongside his studies, he performed and arranged pieces with Columbia's New Music Ensemble, and music directed multiple projects in collaboration with the theater department. He graduated early in winter 2020 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music.
Today, Ryan continues to compose and perform. He is currently based in Chicago and can be found teaching classes, playing for live theater, and collaborating with artists on new musical projects. Ryan is a storyteller at heart, and continues to use music to inspire creativity.
