Jia M • Piano Instructor

Pianist Jia M. is an emerging artist from Dalian, China and has performed in several venues throughout China and the United States, and has appeared on the front cover of the Clavier Companion magazine (July/Aug 2017 issue). As a winner of the 2022 Concerto Competition at the University of Georgia, she will be performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue this coming fall.

 

In addition to performing, she is also passionate about teaching. She has researched many piano pedagogical methodologies and draws on a wealth of disciplines to teach according to her students’ learning style. In her 10 years of teaching, she has taught over 100 students and has been on the piano faculty of University of Georgia’s Community Music School as well as many music schools in the Chicago area.

Jia is a D.M.A. candidate at the University of Georgia under Evgeny Rivkin, where she is also receiving a minor in Piano Pedagogy. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied with Winston Choi and Edward Auer.
