Gerald M • Saxophone, Clarinet & Flute Instructor
Saxophonist Gerald M. is an active performer and educator in the Chicago land area. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gerald established himself as a young musician in the South Texas music scene. By age 18, Gerald had received many awards and had performed throughout the state of Texas under the mentorship of local musician and educator, Raymond Sanchez. Gerald went on to pursue a formal education at Texas State University where he earned a degree in Music Education. After his time at Texas State, Gerald attended the School of Music at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and earned a masters degree in Jazz Studies.
Gerald received many accolades during his scholastic career, including a DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award and being invited to perform at the 36th Annual Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium. Since graduating from DePaul University, Gerald has performed throughout the country with numerous musical groups displaying a wide range of musical styles. Gerald also teaches music in schools throughout the Chicago land area while maintaining a private saxophone studio.
