Yunlong Z. is a Chicago-based guitarist and educator with extensive experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. In addition to classical guitar, he also teaches bass guitar, ukulele, and beginner piano.

 

Yunlong earned his undergraduate degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and his Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, where he studied with Anne Waller and Mark Maxwell. During his time at Northwestern, he was awarded the Eckstein Scholarship and taught non-major guitar courses at the university.

 

As an active performer, Yunlong was awarded Third Prize in Group E at the Swiss International Music Competition for Performers. He has also participated in masterclasses and studied with distinguished musicians including Paul O’Dette, Eliot Fisk, Shin-Ichi Fukuda, Meng Su, Lorenzo Micheli, and Bruce Holzman. Beyond the concert stage, Yunlong is committed to community engagement and has been a frequent guest performer at Civic Saturday(Evanston), a civic event organized by Citizen University.

Yunlong focuses on helping students develop solid music foundations and confidence in their playing while fostering a lasting connection with music.
