Beth F • Guitar/Ukulele Instructor
Born and raised in Chicago, Elizabeth F. is a professional guitarist and teacher. She picked up the guitar at the age of 13, teaching herself to read music and play songs by her favorite rock and heavy metal bands. At the age of 17, she began taking lessons and was introduced to the world of classical guitar. She attended Northeastern Illinois University, and earned her bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance. She has participated in contests, master classes and workshops with world-famous guitarists. She has been a member of several performing groups, such as the Lyra Guitar Quartet, and has played at special events such as weddings and graduations throughout the Chicago area.
Elizabeth has taught individual guitar, piano, violin and viola lesson to students ranging in ages from 4 to 80. For nearly 15 years, she has been free lancing and working with teaching organizations including Allegro Music Center, Kim’s International Music, and Ravinia’s Reach*Teach*Play program at Homan Square Park. Elizabeth enjoys music of all genres (except country), especially grunge, psychedelic rock, metal, blues, and classical.
She believes it is never too late to dive into the world of music and learn a new instrument or grow your skills, and encourages all her students to explore new things and challenge themselves in order to become self-sufficient musicians.
