Ruth Carson • Piano Instructor
New to Chicago, July 2018, Ruth E. Carson is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), with 20 plus years of teaching experience. Studying under the direction of Dr. Robert Scott Beard and Lisa Emenheiser, Ruth has a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Pedagogy from Shepherd University with further graduate studies in Piano Pedagogy at George Mason University, as well as more recent performance study with Dr. Noel Lester, Hood College. She has maintained a large and active piano studio in Frederick, Maryland, with many prize and scholarship-winning students. Serving on Maryland and West Virginia State and District boards with the Music Teachers National Association, Ruth has chaired years of music festivals, adjudicated recitals, master classes, community service recitals, and studio recitals. Her students have had the opportunity to focus on music theory through the MSMTA Theory testing program. She is a current member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Illinois State Music Teachers Association , and the Chicago area Music Teachers Association.
Ruth enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities.
Her goal is to instill a lifelong love of music through the study of the piano. Lessons encompass a wide variety of genres and allow the opportunity for self-expression and creativity.
