Oliver S • Piano Instructor

Oliver S. is a jazz pianist, educator, arranger, and composer. Originally from Maine, Oliver has studied at Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music, living and performing in western New York for 8 years. At Eastman he taught jazz piano classes and private lessons, received the Ray Wright Prize, was a member of the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, Studio Orchestra, and performed with guest artists, including renowned bassist John Clayton. In Rochester Oliver was a member of the Generations Trio, featuring drummer Rich Thompson.

 

Most recently, Oliver taught jazz at James Madison University as an Instructor of Jazz Piano during the 2022-23 school year, and was an active member in the local Harrisonburg and Charlottesville musical communities, performing with such artists as John D’earth, Charles Owens, Emre Kartari, Sam Suggs, and Adam Larrabee. Oliver’s next chapter brings him to Chicago, where he is excited to perform, teach privately, and make many new connections.
