Anna Berntson holds a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, and a master’s degree from University of Michigan, where she studied with David Bowlin and Aaron Berofsky respectively. She earned a Suzuki teaching certification in 2016 under Mark Mutter, and she is passionate about helping each of her students to develop their own musical voice. Anna has previously managed a studio of over twenty students, and her teaching style focuses on building on students' success to foster progress.
While pursuing her master’s degree, she played as a member of the Ann Arbor Camerata, performing in a masterclass with Sir Simon Rattle and in a recording project with Dr. Nancy Ambrose King. Anna has performed in masterclasses for Almita Vamos and Lawrence Dutton, and served as concertmaster for the past two years at Chautauqua Institution, where she was a soloist for the premiere of Bruce Stark’s Symphonic Dances.
During her master's degree, Anna worked with Michigan Artist Citizen's program and the Sphinx Organization, teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and played regularly with Lansing and Ann Arbor symphonies. In addition to private lesson teaching, Anna enjoys coaching and instilling a love for chamber music.
